HRD & Lifelong Learning 1998 - 1999

Led by the University of Twente and supported by the EU’s 4th Framework Targeted Socio-Economic Research (TSER) programme, this project seeks to identify the new role of the HRD professional in Europe with a specific reference to the support and development of employee learning.

In phase one of the project, a number of case studies in seven EU countries are being conducted and the results will clarify the specific European outlook on the HRD role in contrast to Japanese or North American models. The second phase will involve a detailed questionnaire survey in each of the participating countries.

The project results will inform a practical guide for HRD practitioners on how to facilitate employee learning and assisting their organisations in securing competitiveness in a continuously changing environment.

E.C.L.O.’s role is to disseminate the project.
