One of the ways in which ECLO helps to advance the “state of the art” in our area of interest is by participation in innovative projects, usually EU-supported, either in our own right, or more usually in collaboration with one or more members. In addition to the direct participants there are invariably many members who are interested in the results, both at an interim and concluding stage and ECLO is able to serve as an expert forum to provide qualitative input and/or as a dissemination channel via the medium of The Learner, through conference workshops or by more direct engagement. Additional to various research collaborations there have been many partnerships forged among members who come to know and value each others areas of expertise.
