Editorial
Yet another annual conference flies by. It seems to me that the year in between our annual gathering is getting shorter. It was great to see old friends and make some new ones. This year's conference was very exciting and I would like to thank all of you who attended for contributing to our collective learning. Feedback in Munich suggests that the conference was probably our best to date and many thanks to Helmut Paulik of IHK for his hospitality. Thanks also to our sponsors Allianz, Deutsche Telekom and Kenniscentrum Cibit.
ECLO2001
Global Change has invited us to locate ECLO2001 in Lisbon next year. The Board has agreed to work towards this and preparations are already under way.
New roles
In the process of re-organising our activities, we would like to invite members to make a contribution to our collective learning and to the general activities of ECLO.
As a not-for-profit organisation with low resources, ECLO is not able to compensate for those contributions in monetary terms comparable to normal consultancy rates. However, consistent with our views and values regarding continuous professional development, we hope to find compensation packages that include, for instance, registration at our annual conference, subscriptions to a journal and other similar methods. Each individual situation will be subject to separate dialogue and agreements.
Appointments
ECLO invites responses to the above message. We are particularly hoping to gain your contributions in three areas of activity.
1. Editor of The Learner - this will involve working with Brigitte and Yves Doignies and members of the Editorial Board to solicit new articles and edit the 3 editions each year. We anticipate that this would amount to approximately 12 days of your time. 2. Editor of the E-Learner - this involves liasing with Brigitte to ensure up-to-date ECLO news is brought to the attention of members 10 times per year. This activity would suit someone who surfs the web for learning organisation related sites regularly and we anticipate that this activity would take approximately 4 days per year.3. In collaboration with our conference hosts, we are seeking additional support of two further members to design and manage the content of ECLO2001. This will involve at least 2 meetings and possibly up to 5 additional days of work.
Web Watch
The Fast Company magazine provides a wide range of stimulating articles. I have included links to two From the TrainingZone
Amy J. Timmins asks: How do you define the term knowledge management, particularly in the context of organizational learning? The answers vary, depending on both the purpose of asking the question and the source of the answer. http://www.linkageinc.com/newsletter31/kmolpaper.htm

This month - a word from a famous Welsh man.
