Editorial

No matter how many new ideas come to fruition using information and communication technologies, not matter how many times we communicate electronically or by telephone the benefit of having our conference as a space for meetings is invaluable. The trust and respect needed to maintain any community can only be built through face-to-face opportunities. The quality of the content of the conference is essential, yet the benefits of simply being there are equally as strong. See you in Munich.

IT and learning in industry

The KALIF project team has now developed a portal for IT and learning in industry (LTI) issues. Keep up to date with the latest news, or even contribute yourself at www.lti-portal,org

Web Watch

These two sites have some excellent material. Firstly there is an interview by Joel Kurtzman with Chris Argyris:

`Let me also say at the outset that I'm interested in action, and not simply knowledge for the purpose of understanding and explaining. I'd love that, but it has to be knowledge for understanding, explaining, in order to act’.

Read this fascinating interview with arguably the founding father of organisational learning http://www.strategy-business.com/thoughtleaders/98109/page1.html

Secondly, here is a timely reminder that all types of organisation can establish the principles and practices of the learning organisation:

Learning organizatio following new members:

Doct. Luigi Incatasciato, from ECIPA LAZIO, Roma, Italy incatasciato@ecipa.lazio.it

Lois and Barry Fordham, from Strategic Knowledge Partners, Sherwood, Australia

lois.fordham@uq.net.au

Hubert De Neve, from Unisys Belgium N.V., as a GOLD Member for 3 years,
hubert.deneve@be.unisys.com

They will all be attending the AGM and Conference in Munich.

Andrew Haldane will be presenting at the Klee&CO Forum in London in June. Andrew’s presentation will focus on Knowledge Management Evaluation – How do you know that value is added?

Thought of the month

The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. (Alvin Toffler)
