Editorial
With our vacations rapidly becoming a distance memory, consider the days ahead and the festive season in sight, or is it ?
It is a good time to reflect on recent events in New York, which caused mere mortals to despair, but perhaps encouraged many ECLO Members to re-double their efforts to spread the word that ‘Change without Learning’ often results in tragedy, but ‘Change with Learning’ is more likely to bring about understanding and tolerance. A friend suggested; why not ‘bomb’ Afghanistan with food, since the people are in greater need of physical nourishment than more mental torment.
The signs are that we have much work to do in a world with such inequalities and dichotomy of moral and ethical standards. The impossible we can do, but miracles take a little longer.
On a lighter note this issue focuses on a number of possibilities for ‘enlightenment’, which includes examining, what might be an alien ‘lifestyle’, in an attempt to ferment greater perception and understanding; an off beat look at Dyslexia and scan of ‘European’ thinking on Learning, together with an invitation to attend the European Mentoring Conference, next month.
ECLO Amsterdam Conference (May 2002)

Dyslexia Resources
Did you hear about the Dyslexic Witch? Witch dyslexic Which ?
What is dyslexia? Ask non-dyslexics and they will probably tell you it is a problem with reading and spelling. Ask a group of dyslexics the same question and you will probably get a different, although related, answer from each one, since the condition manifests itself differently, for each individual.
Certainly for some dyslexics it is an inability to read or write at a level appropriate for their age and background. For others it manifests itself as an inability with regard to comprehension, i.e. the person can read the words themselves, but cannot understand what they actually mean. Yet another manifestation can occur during conversation. We have all experienced losing the thread of a conversation. Can you imagine how this feels when it happens on a regular basis?

Also link to list of fees for assessment, which are quite reasonable. The list shows several different currencies so caters for more than one country.

News from our members
From LUIGI INCATASCIATO & BARBARA DE MICHELI
Dear Partners
Starting from the 1 of October we are leaving ECIPA LAZIO and creating our own company – EXA Team. The decision comes as an answer to our willing to be more independent and to create our own business. We guess you can understand us: after having followed so many SMEs’ start ups and talked so a lot on how SMEs should be, we thought we were ready to have our own! Nevertheless we will maintain a strong relationship with ECIPA LAZIO and the CNA system: we will go ahead with our work in approved and founded European projects; we will collaborate with ECIPA as external consultants.
We strongly hope the good work we have been making together in these years will prosecute with our new company. Since we are moving in these days in a brand new office, we will be able to send you new coordinates (address, email, tel/fax numbers) next week. In the meanwhile you can use our old emails ‘till the end of October ( incatasciato@ecipa.lazio.it; demicheli@ecipa.lazio.it) or reach us at Barbara mobile +39 335 5466147.
